Boost your commercial activities through merchandising

The way you design your shop or pharmacy and where you place your products has a major impact on purchasing behaviour and the appeal of your offer.

At Studio Clement, we are not only specialists in hardware, but we also know the sales process inside out. That is why we are happy to give you additional advice on creating a pleasant flow through your shop and offer you our merchandising services.

What is merchandising?

Merchandising is a term used for all activities that promote sales and also refers to market research aimed at increasing sales. Visual retailing is the silent force behind your shop concept, with the aim of offering a distinctive shopping experience and thus increasing turnover per square metre.

Did you know that 70% of purchasing decisions are only made once people are in your pharmacy or commercial space?

Why use merchandising in retail or in your pharmacy?

In retail, it is crucial to attract customers into the shop. These insights are indeed also applicable in the healthcare sector. The difference is that in a pharmacy, customers come in themselves because they need certain medicines. Once inside, in the before-the-counter environment, patients suddenly become customers and the same rules apply as in retail.

Isn’t this the perfect moment to show them more of what you have to offer? To convince new mothers that they too deserve to be pampered, and not just their babies? You can do this with a silent salesperson in the form of an optimised layout (planogram), correct routing (heat map) and intelligent product presentation (shelf management).

But first things first: are your plans feasible?

Are you looking to start a new pharmacy or shop, or are you considering renovating your existing premises? Then trust Studio Clement’s years of experience in the sector to analyse the feasibility of your plans. We have only one goal in mind: to ensure that your business is profitable.

We analyse various parameters and map out a wide range of issues:

  • your main competitors.
  • an insight into your customer base. We look not only at your existing customers, but also at any new potential customers (for example, new neighbourhoods that are being built in your area).
  • your estimated income based on the neighbourhood where you wish to establish/renovate the pharmacy or commercial space.
Optimise your commercial space with a planogram

Once your project has been deemed feasible, it is important to determine where you will place the products from the optimal range and in which furniture. This phase therefore coincides with determining the concept, which we do on the basis of a planogram or layout plan.

A planogram is a visualisation of your pharmacy or shop that shows the correct placement of product groups.

For example, it shows:

  • positioning of specific product groups in certain zones.
  • the size of the product groups, which products receive more attention and which receive less.
  • the position of counters or services that are integrated within the concept.

A heat map shows walking routes

At Studio Clement, we work with flexible furniture as much as possible. This allows you to easily adjust your interior design after opening based on heat map research.

A heat map maps the cold and warm zones of your pharmacy or commercial space using a counting camera or infrared camera. This camera maps the walking routes of your customers.

Warm zones are areas that attract customers, so it is best to place your more expensive products or the range with the highest margin there. Cold zones, on the other hand, are ideal for less popular products or products that people need anyway and therefore do not need to attract extra attention (e.g. baby food in a pharmacy).

You can make your warm zones even more attractive by placing displays or digital screens with more product information.

Make your products visible to customers

At Studio Clement, we are also specialists in shelf management: the correct placement of materials or products in your shop or pharmacy.

We check each shelf to see which products are best placed together and which are better separated. We also advise you on additional visual communication to draw even more attention to certain products.
