Plastic Surgery Institute

Studio Clement was given a special remit for the Bruges-based Plastic Surgery Institute: to transform a 150 m² shell space into a high-quality plastic surgery group practice — all of which to be delivered to a very tight time schedule. The brief arrived just before the summer holidays, with a clear deadline: the practice had to be ready to open before the end of the year.
We quickly shifted into gear: site visit, intake consultation, design and development using 3D renders to provide a very quick and clear picture of the layout, the vibe and the materials. Further to plan approval, work commenced in early October, with barely 12 weeks remaining until completion.
The institute being a medical environment, there was a strong focus on sustainability and hygiene. Materials had to withstand intensive cleaning and disinfection (including with products such as Iso-Betadine). In addition, we came up with practical tailored solutions, such as a fixed hand sanitiser station and swing doors to avoid contact with door handles.
There were technical challenges too: the premises are located on the ground floor of a co-owned building, which limited the options for installations. By proactively engaging in dialogue (even attending the co-owners’ general meeting), we were able to speed up the right decisions and still complete the project to the highest technical standards.
The upshot is a practice interior that combines medical precision with a neat, warm atmosphere — fully tailored to the team’s work practices and ready to professionally welcome patients in comfort and style.
